The Buffalo Zoo is proud of our countless conservation efforts that help create a future where wildlife thrives, including a recent project dedicated to saving a newly discovered turtle species: Kinosternon cora, or the cora Mexican mud turtle. We have dedicated resources and brought in cora mud turtles that were confiscated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as they were likely heading for the black market pet trade. We have set the turtles up in a bio secure facility, and Buffalo Zoo staff
